Guided Sauna Sessions (Aufguss) are hosted daily at both locations. Sauna Masters use towel waving to raise the temperature and disperse heat throughout the sauna.

What is an Aufguss?
Aufguss is a multisensory sauna ritual lasting about 15 minutes. The core elements of an Aufguss are heat, essential oils and music. The Sauna Master works with snowballs to create steam and circulate heat throughout the sauna with towel waving. You’ve just gotta be there.
How can I join an Aufguss Ritual?
Keep an eye out for a Sauna Master to announce when the day’s next Aufguss will take place, per the schedule above. There are no extra costs associated and no special bookings are required to participate.
Aufguss Competition June 23 & 24, 2025
Bathhouse was the first to bring Aufguss sessions to New York City audiences. We are honored to host this inaugural U.S. contest.
We invite you to join us at Bathhouse Williamsburg to spectate in the sauna as 11 Sauna Masters at the top of their game compete to advance to the World Championship later this year in Verona, Italy.

What Is Aufguss WM?
Aufguss WM stands for Aufguss World Masters. This organization has hosted the Aufguss World Championships since 2015. It is the pinnacle achievement for Sauna Masters. Until recently, the competition was very European-centric. Today, eighteen countries participate, including Japan, Canada and the USA.
Winners from USA competition will go on to World Championships hosted by Aufguss WM.
How to view a competition Aufguss
Audience seating will be first-come, first-served in our Williamsburg Event Sauna where the competition will take place. A Day Pass booking guarantees at least one show per guest.
If a certain time slot is full, we will also have Aufguss taking place in our Tropical Sauna. No matter what, you'll be able to get a proper sweat going with Sauna Masters performing a dozen shows per day.
